Party Parade Fund (Small Grants)
Party Parade 2008, our 20th Anniversary Year, was the most successful Party Parade ever. Over $80,000 was raised for the Party Parade Fund to provide small grants to local non-profit organizations. The Party Parade Fund was created in 1998, the tenth anniversary of Party Parade. Since that time, it has awarded small grants to many local charities for needy projects that otherwise might fall through the gaps. The Fund's recipients in 2008 were:
The Boys and Girls Club of Charlottesville/Albemarle to help provide additional staff for an expanded youth development program at the Club’s Southwood Unit.
The Youth Development Network Scholarship Committee of the Charlottesville/Albemarle Commission on Children and Families to help send low-income children to camp in the Summer FUNd Scholarship Program.
Children,Youth & Family Services for recruitment and training of volunteers for the Play Partners Program to bring reading and enrichment to children in low-income childcare settings.
This year we will continue to accept proposals from local charities for requests for small grants. The deadline for proposals is March 16, 2009.
